WHY 'HIDDEN STONES' ?
Frankly,
I got the idea to name this collection of writings from a joke...
The joke is one everyone has heard in one form or another. Just change
the characters to match your particular religion, club, or organization.
the JOKE...
Once a Mormon Bishop and his
Second Counselor took a young Elders Quorum president fishing with them
in a boat. After a while the Bishop said, 'I need a drink of fresh
water'. He got out of the boat and walked fifty feet across the top
of the water to shore where he got a drink of fresh water and returned
to the boat. Some time later the counselor did the same. Of
course, the Elders Quorum president was awe struck! He was amazed
at the great faith of the other two men. Not wanting to be out done,
he mustered all of the faith he possessed, stood up in the boat and with
eyes closed steeped out of the boat. He sunk like a rock! The
Bishop and Counselor hauled him back into the boat and got him to shore.
As he lay on the bank recovering the Bishop turned to his counselor and
said, 'Do you think we should have told him where the rocks are?'

the REAL STORY...
From this silly joke I received a minor bit of inspiration. Life really is strewn with 'Hidden Stones' and if you know where to step and how to use them much of the hardship, grief and suffering we go through can be avoided! Our Father-in-heaven has given us the scriptures, personal prayer, worldly writings of wisdom, inspired leaders and for many, good parents to help us through life. As we discover and learn to use these 'Hidden Stones' we will find it easier to succeed in the areas which are important. We should all take a few moments to ponder the hidden stones we have found in our lives. Then, we should share them with others. If you have hidden stones you would like to share write the up and email them to us! email |
