My Mom  - by Finley Bayless

When I was born I couldn't see, and being born can scary be, but who was there in bed with me, my Mom.

And starting then and lasting long mid downs of woe and ups of song, who stuck by me through right and wrong, my Mom.

Who knows when I'm being bad and making her feel sad, and makes me mind or wish I had, my Mom.

When day is gone and night has fell, and I ain’t always feelin' well, who loves me more than I can tell, my Mom.

Who wipes my nose and calms my fears, and wipes away my snot and tears, and saves me when nightmares appear, my Mom.

And when I howl who makes me hush, and feeds me lots of slush like mush, and makes me hurry 'til’ I rush, my Mom.

And when I'm bad and have broke a cup, and shared my dinner with my pup, Who still loves me when I throw up, my Mom.

And when I'm scared with monsters about, and they eat me before I can shout, Who makes that monster spit me out!  my Mom.

Who searches out my secret hut, and nails the club house door down shut, and spanks my rotten little ? (you know what),  my Mom.

Who wakes me long before the dawn, and crams me on the old cold john, and makes me strain until I've gone, my Mom.

And when I'm big and on my mission, things clear I'll see, and I will always grateful be, because the Lord gave her to me, my Mom.
