When I was a about twelve years of age I had a crush on a young movie
star. She was the perfect example of everything good and wholesome
in a young women. At least I thought so. I used to see her
movies over and over, until I literally had most of the lines and scenes
from her movies memorized. I could tell you anything about this young
lady and the movies she did. Her birthday, her likes and dislikes
and even where she was born. Over the years I have forgotten all
of this trivia and even why I had such an undying devotion to her.
One thing, however, has stayed with me through all the years. One
thought, one statement, from all of her movies gave me something
which I still remember and cherish. It wasn't even one of her lines.
It was a line uttered by a women playing the part of her grandmother.
It was, simply stated, ‘The heart is a house with a room for everyone’.
This has been important to me because we humans tend to be jealous and
limit the capacity to love in ourselves and others. As a child
you may have thought that Mom and Dad loved little Annie or Billy more
that they loved you. This probably caused some kind of a complex.
We do not realize the full potential of the human heart It's nature
is eternal and without bounds. It has infinite capacity to love or
to hate, to comfort or be comforted. While the mind remembers all
we see and do the heart gives it spirit and feeling. The heart is
literally the ‘3D’ or third dimension of human life. It sets us apart
from the ‘animals’ more than our capacity to reason. That simple
remark, ‘The heart is a house with a room for everyone’ offered this great
inspiration to me. It gave me insight into the human hearts infinite potential
for love and compassion. As parents we are able to further experience
this potential of the 'heart' as the savior did. He is the best example
of this infinite capacity to love. He can do no less than love us
all equally. His heart will not burst from this abundant love.
It will increase in capacity. This ability to ‘love’ is the essence of
our eternal nature. Our hearts literally do have rooms for everyone
and everything we hold dear...
